The Rhone

vineyards in the nearby valley

The Rhone is famous for its wines. There are dozens of vineyards and wineries within walking distance of Jassine. Also the wines of Chateauneuf du Pape and Gigondas are not much more than 20 minutes away by car.

The owners of Jassine are friendly with many of these wine growers, and a list and contact details will be posted. WIne tours can be organised.  From the comfort of La Jassine des Trois Montagnes you can be collected and taken to visit Chateauneuf-du-Pape, Gigondas,  Vacqueyras and the rising stars of the Ventoux appellation.

The Villages

Suzette can be easily reached by well-maintained highways (about 40 minutes from the Avignon TGV station, or about an hour and a half from the Marseille Airport). There are two large villages nearby: Beaumes de Venise and Malaucene, each about 10 minutes away by car. They have many bakeries, and other shops, as well as a weekly market.

Hiking, Climbing, Cycling

bikeLa Jassine des Trois Montagnes is at the heart of a renowned outdoor recreation area. The Suzette road links directly with the famous Mont Ventoux Tour de France cycling circuit, which is a 15 minute ride away, a mostly downhill, glide.  There are endless footpaths, mountain bike circuits, or bridleways in the area. The mountains are popular for both hikers and mountain climbers. High performance bikes can be hired locally or bring your own.

Dining

There are a myriad  restaurants in the area, gourmet or otherwise. Some are family friendly eateries, some are wine bars, but almost all are located in charming countryside. Often the best meal is the picnic just bought at the market and eaten on the slope of a nearby mountain. There are local markets every day of the week. Two of the best are at Vaison la Romaine on Tuesday mornings, or at Carpentras on Friday mornings. ……..20 minutes away
